Businessman Alieu Jalloh was recently presented before Magistrate Peter Brima Gogra at Pademba Road Court No.6 in Freetown, where he was granted bail of twenty million Leone (old notes) on charges of allegedly obtaining money through false pretenses, which is in violation of Sierra Leonean laws.
According to the details of the offense, on August 27, 2022, in the Kissy Brook area of Freetown’s Western Area, Jalloh allegedly acquired a sum of nine thousand five hundred new Leones (9,500) from Santigie Conteh under false pretenses. Jalloh purportedly claimed to have a three-room and parlour house available for rent, although he knew this statement to be untrue.
Upon being informed of the charges brought against him, Jalloh pleaded not guilty during the court hearing.
As no witnesses were present during the proceedings, Magistrate Gogra granted bail to the accused in the amount of twenty thousand Leones.
The bail conditions required Jalloh to provide two sureties, each of whom must also reside in the Western Area of Freetown. Furthermore, the sureties were required to present valid identity cards and proof of valid business registration.
