A local footballer, AbdulRahman Kamara, popularly known as “Sixer,” has been remanded in custody after appearing before Magistrate Santigie Bangura at Pademba Road Court No. 2 on Wednesday, 26th February 2025. Kamara is facing multiple drug-related charges under the National Drug Control Act of 2008.

The prosecution has leveled four charges against the accused, including collecting, possessing, dealing in, and selling prohibited drugs without lawful authority.

The alleged offenses took place on 26th December 2024 at No. 15 Humphray Lane, Cline Town, where Kamara was reportedly found in possession of 96 wraps of a substance suspected to be “kush.”

During the court proceedings, Sergeant 3379 Ballay led the prosecution and presented Deputy Sergeant Sahr Sundu Koroma as the first witness.

Koroma testified that he had received the case file from the Harbour Police Station on 14th February 2025, which included a forensic examination request for the seized substance, a laboratory analyst’s report, and other key documents. He further stated that he, along with another officer, had formally charged Kamara on the same date.

The witness also recounted that Kamara had been cautioned and interviewed in Krio, after which his responses were translated into English, read back to him, and confirmed as accurate.

Kamara’s defense counsel, S.L.J. Forah Sesay, submitted a bail application, arguing that the accused is a student with strong community ties and does not pose a flight risk. Citing the Bail Regulation of 2018 and Section 79 of the Criminal Procedure Act of 1965, Sesay emphasized that his client had credible sureties willing to vouch for his court attendance.

However, Magistrate Bangura denied the bail request, highlighting the seriousness of the charges. As a result, Kamara was remanded at the Male Correctional Center in Freetown. The case has been adjourned to 6th March 2025 for further hearings.
