The United Team of Pujehun District (UN Team) convened its inaugural two-day 2024 Annual Work Plan Review Conference and the drafting of its 2024-2030 Development Plan under the theme ‘Sustainable Transformation and Development for All’.

The conference took place at the Galliness Paradise Hotel in Bo, drawing delegates from various sectors.

The conference aimed to assess the progress of implementation, provide operational updates, and address critical challenges encountered during the formation of the UN Team. Additionally, it focused on finalizing the Development Plans and Budget for the next six years, along with enhancing membership capacity and coordination.

A senior member of the UN Team, Alhaji Best Abu emphasized the importance of volunteerism in advancing the organization’s agenda. He highlighted the conference’s role in rebranding the UN Team and fostering a spirit of volunteerism among its members. Abu underscored the significance of addressing challenges such as education accessibility and healthcare, particularly maternal and infant mortality rates in the district.

Echoing Abu’s sentiments, Edwin L. Gibao stressed the urgency of addressing healthcare disparities in Pujehun District. He called for concerted efforts to bridge gaps in the health sector and advocated for measures to mitigate maternal and infant mortality rates. Gibao emphasized the UN Team’s commitment to supporting the district, especially during crises such as the Covid-19 pandemic.

Mohamed B. Kallon, another senior and dedicated member of the UN Team, outlined the conference’s focus on engaging young people to tackle socio-economic issues in the district. He emphasized the need for strategic planning to drive development initiatives and dispelled misconceptions about the conference’s funding, clarifying that delegates financed the event through individual contributions.

Key outcomes of the conference included the development of activity plans addressing various sectors such as transportation, education, agriculture, and communication. The Agriculture Committee, represented by Nelson Moinama Kallon, emphasized initiatives to support sustainable agricultural production, enhance collaboration with stakeholders, and provide training on modern farming techniques.

Overall, the conference served as a platform for stakeholders to strategize and collaborate on initiatives aimed at addressing socio-economic challenges in Pujehun District, demonstrating the UN Team’s commitment to sustainable development and community empowerment.
