The management of Sierra Rutile Holdings Limited (SRL) have on the 24th September, 2024 announced Scholarship Support programme for the 2024/2025 Academic Year for Pupils and Students from the five Mining Chiefdoms in Moyamba and Bonthe District.

The Scholarship is meant for those with exemplary performance in the National Primary School Examination (NPSE), Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) and the West Africa Senior School Examination (WASSCE).

The Scholarship opportunity is geared towards supporting families in the SRL’s Mining Chiefdoms by providing high performing Pupils and Students in the means to further their education.

Successful applicants will receive a full Scholarship of Le5,000 (Five Thousand New Leones) for NPSE, Le5,000 (Five Thousand New Leones) for BECE, and Le10,000 (Ten Thousand New Leones) for WASSCE until completion of Junior Secondary School, Senior Secondary School and University respectively.

Applcant must be indegene from the five Mining Chiefdoms and attending government or government-assisted academic institution, in order to be qualified for the Scholarship. No private school applicant will be considered.

Priority will be given to students pursuing pure science (STEM) including including those who wish to enter vocational and skills training programme like electrical engineering and mechanical engineering.

The application must be supported by parents or guidance of the applicant and endorsed by their Head Teacher and School Principal.

Additionally, the application must not be in possession of other scholarship(s) or educational financial support either at the time of application or during the term of scholarship, with the exception of the Government or Sierra Leone scholarships (Grant-in-aid).

Applicantion documents must contain the following:

  • Full Name

  • Date of birth

  • Name and address of school

  • Home address

  • Year of school the scholarship is being applied for

  • copy of NPSE, BECE or WASSCE results (SRL will verify results through the West Africa Examinations Council (WAEC) Board

  • WASSCE applicant waiting to pursue undergraduate programme of study must present a letter of offer from their University

  • Head Teacher’s or School Principal’s report endorsing the application

  • Photo copy of National Identification Card

Application forms can be obtained from the SRL Community Affairs Department, Plant Site and completed and submitted no later than 31October 2024 for further processing.

Current beneficiaries of SRL scholarship opportunity are exempted from applying.
