A prominent politician and media personality, Dr. Sylvia Olayinka Blyden, has publicly alleged that a Freetown-based shipping company, Serenity Shipping SL Ltd., is connected to an alleged international cocaine trafficking investigation involving a vessel reportedly carrying 40,000 kilograms of cocaine.
In a statement posted on her Facebook account, Blyden claimed that information surrounding the alleged cocaine shipment had been intentionally concealed by investigators in order to mislead individuals in Sierra Leone.
“Cocaine ship details released to news agencies were blurred by Spain-led investigators to lure elements in Sierra Leone to complacency. I can now CONFIRM the company registered to manage the 40,000kg cocaine ship is Serenity Shipping SL Ltd. of Juba Hill, Freetown,” Blyden wrote in the post.
The claims made by Blyden have not been independently verified, and no official evidence has so far been presented publicly to support the allegation against Serenity Shipping SL Ltd.
As of the time of publication, there has been no official confirmation from Spanish authorities, Sierra Leonean law enforcement agencies, or international anti-drug enforcement bodies linking Serenity Shipping SL Ltd. to any cocaine shipment or drug trafficking operation.
Authorities in Spain have also not released any public statement identifying the ownership or management structure of any vessel allegedly connected to the reported seizure.
International drug trafficking investigations are commonly coordinated through agencies such as Interpol and national law enforcement institutions. In many cases, operational details are withheld from the public during ongoing investigations to avoid compromising intelligence gathering and enforcement activities.
The allegations have generated discussion on social media, particularly following Blyden’s assertion that investigators deliberately obscured information released to international news agencies.
However, no international news organization has independently confirmed the specific claims contained in her Facebook statement, including the alleged involvement of Serenity Shipping SL Ltd. or the existence of a “Spain-led” operation tied to a 40,000kg cocaine shipment.
Efforts to obtain comments from Serenity Shipping SL Ltd. regarding the allegations were unsuccessful as of press time. Sierra Leonean authorities have also not issued any public response to Blyden’s claims.
