The communication officer of the 21-Man Committee (ITGC) of the All Peoples Congress (APC), Suliaman Bumneh Kamara has, during an exclusive interview with this press at his Wellington Street offices in Freetown disclosed that the much anticipated National Delegate’s Convention (NDC) to elect the 2023 presidential flagbearer of the PAC is expected to take place in February 2023 following the conclusion of the party’s internal lower-level elections for wards, constituencies, regional and district executives of the party.

He continued that currently, there is no elected presidential candidate for the party and that, as it stands, time is not in the party’s favour as, according to him, they have line-up of political activities to undertake ahead of the said convention.

According to Suliaman Bumneh Kamara, the upcoming NDC will be held 28 days after the conclusion of the internal lower-leevel elections, adding that the criteria’s and other procedures to meet for that highly coveted position are found in the new 2022 constitution of the APC.

He also disclosed that that the party expects to commence the conduct of the internal lower-level elections in November this year, adding that the April 28th court ruling stated that such exercise shall be carried out for a period not longer than sixty days, following which, the Committee should announce the official date for the holding of the NDC.

Suliaman Bumneh Kamara also added that the Committee is currently preparing to organize a successful NDC, following which, the ITGC will be dissolved.

Meanwhile, up to thirteen senior members of the party have expressed interest to vie for the presidential flagbearer position of the party for the 2023 presidential elections. Among them are 12 male and a female, including the 2018 presidential candidate, Dr Samura Kamra, the former Vice President Alhaji Sam Sumana, among others.
