The Government of Sierra Leone has announced the digitalisation of the booking process for the Miatta Civic Centre in Freetown, allowing members of the public to now reserve the national civic space online through the WanGov platform.
According to the Ministry of Information and Civic Education, the new system takes effect from Friday, June 26, 2026, and removes the need for in-person applications. The reform is aimed at improving accessibility, efficiency, and transparency in the use of one of the country’s key public venues.
Under the new arrangement, users can submit booking requests at any time through the digital platform for a range of activities, including community forums, cultural events, training sessions, and other public programmes.
The system also introduces structured scheduling options, with applicants able to select either a daytime block from 7:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. or an evening block from 4:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m., depending on the nature of their event.
The Ministry noted that the initiative reflects government efforts to modernise public service delivery and expand citizen access to civic infrastructure. It further emphasised that the Miatta Civic Centre remains a public asset belonging to the people of Sierra Leone, now made more accessible through digital innovation.
