President Julius Maada Bio has on Tuesday officially inaugurated Sierra Leone’s premier sardine factory, a project spearheaded by the private sector entity Sabco Fishing Company, headquartered in Sierra Leone.
Speaking at the launch, President Bio underscored the significance of this endeavor, stating, “Today, I officially launched the Sardine Canning Factory of SABCO Fishing Company (SL) LTD at Jui, Freetown. Harnessing our fisheries wealth through value addition is strategically aligned with our Government’s industrialization and economic diversification aspirations.”
The president highlighted the pivotal role the factory will play in generating employment opportunities, particularly for the youth and women residing in coastal communities. He emphasized that this initiative aims not only to enhance livelihoods but also to bolster the nation’s food security and alleviate poverty in the long term.
“I wish the Management and Staff of SABCO Fishing Company a successful venture and reaffirm our commitment to supporting private sector development as the engine for sustainable economic growth in Sierra Leone,” President Bio affirmed.
I pray for good fruits to be out of it. More grace to the team.
One of problems are, things are made in Sierra Leone are more expensive than imported ones
Encourage more people to build factories in the country. That’s called development for the people. I pray for more investors to come.
I pray let government don’t impose too much taxation on these factory, as am typing just finished eating sepia sardine which cost me twenty five leone, so if government will be able to subsidies it will be fine for us because sardine and bread “na 5 and 6” these night, good luck to the new factory.
This is what is called development, that is why China is almost ruling the world especially Africa, the development of a nation is connected to:
What we produce and what we export.
All the best..more to come by the grace of God…but I hope the price will not be too expensive.
