During the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women in New York, Isata Mahoi, Sierra Leone’s Minister of Gender and Children’s Affairs, engaged in discussions with Iran’s Vice-President for Women and Family Affairs, Ensiyeh Khazali.

The focus of their meeting on Tuesday was the broadening of economic ties between Iran and Sierra Leone.

Both Khazali and Mahoi expressed their commitment to enhancing mutual relations, with a particular emphasis on economic collaboration. Khazali took the opportunity to address the atrocities in Gaza, questioning the credibility of the Zionist regime’s position within the Commission on the Status of Women. She argued that a regime involved in violence against women cannot make informed decisions for them and called for global collaboration against such actions.

In response, Minister Mahoi welcomed the prospect of increased cooperation with Iran and expressed her hope for joint efforts to alleviate the suffering of the people in Gaza.

The meeting underscored the diplomatic efforts of Sierra Leone to strengthen ties and address pressing international issues, showcasing the minister’s dedication to fostering meaningful partnerships.
