Karminty disclosed that activities marking the observance will begin on Saturday, 16th May 2026, with an awareness march from Aberdeen to SOS Children’s Village in Freetown.

She explained that participants in the march will also sign a public commitment board supporting the promotion of strong and functional families across the country.

The Minister further announced that a National Conference on the State of the Family will take place on Monday, 18th May 2026, at the Miatta Civic Center.

According to Karminty, the conference will provide an opportunity for government officials, stakeholders, and citizens to discuss challenges affecting families and identify practical solutions for strengthening family structures in Sierra Leone.
