The Sierra Leone Police (SLP), in partnership with Victory Teens Organisation (VTO), has completed a five-day training programme on Artificial Intelligence (AI) aimed at improving the use of technology in modern policing.

The training brought together police officers from different divisions and units across the country, equipping them with practical knowledge and skills in artificial intelligence, cybercrime detection, investigations, and other areas of technology-driven law enforcement.

Speaking during the closing ceremony held in Kingtom, Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Sahr Yomba Senesi highlighted the importance of continuous training and professional development within the police force.

DIG Senesi said as technology continues to advance, law enforcement agencies must build the capacity of officers to effectively respond to new security challenges.

He encouraged participants to apply the knowledge gained during the training and share it with colleagues in their respective units.

Knowledge is power,” DIG Senesi said, emphasizing that understanding AI is important in addressing emerging threats such as misinformation, fraud, and cybercrime. He thanked VTO for partnering with the SLP and expressed hope for more future collaborations focused on strengthening the capacity of police officers.

The Deputy Inspector General officially declared the training closed on behalf of the Inspector General of Police, marking the end of the five-day programme.

Country Director of VTO, Madam Magdalene Martha Lebbie, expressed satisfaction with the successful completion of the training and thanked the police leadership for supporting the initiative.

She commended the participating officers for their commitment and active involvement throughout the programme, while also recognizing the vision of VTO founder Pastor Mohamed Samuel Kamara in promoting technology-based empowerment for security personnel.

Representing the participants, Inspector Tity Mamusu Brima described the training as timely and beneficial, assuring that officers would apply and share the knowledge gained with their colleagues.

Certificates of completion were presented to participants by DIG Sahr Yomba Senesi, Madam Magdalene Martha Lebbie, and DSP Alpha Kamara, officially marking the successful conclusion of the programme.
