The 3rd edition Sierra Leone Strongest Man competition is slated for Bo Town on December 3rd 2022. Western Area Competitors on Friday, November 11 2022 commenced one-day trials at Peacekeeping Force Gym, 4 Layer Lane-Off Kissy Road in Freetown.

According to the President of the Sierra Leone Strongest Man Sport, Amin Hudroge, the trial was just ordinary training, adding that the day of the competition would be different from the day of training taking into consideration the different athletes will be having the supporters and fans cheering them up and they will be eyeing a huge amount of money. He said the athletes are doing very well especially when they are experiencing some new events and additional weights.

“We never competed at the level in which these athletes are now competing; we are moving towards international and competitions levels. Every championship has its level taking into consideration we are incorporating more events and also increasing the weights of the different events.

“This time around they are lifting the unimaginable 300kg which we never did, which shows that we are moving towards a higher height.”, The former Sierra Leone Strongest Leone Man Champion continued.

“Live the sport is there towards the right direction sporting discipline should be administered by its former athletes. We will have competent judges that will make sure everything is free and fair”, He assured.

According to the technical Director of the association Sonny Johnson, the rationale behind the trials is to know how far the athletes that will be competing in the Sierra Leone strongest man in Bo Town have gone in terms of training and where they are lacking.

“The performances are very good and I am impressed, most of their timings are good. I believe there will be more improvement in the coming weeks,” he stated.
