The Ministry of Internal Affairs has commenced a week-long Regional Stakeholders Consultation on the development of its Strategic Plan (2026–2030). The consultations will run from August 25–29 and resume on September 9, 2025.

Under the initiative and dynamic leadership of the Minister of Internal Affairs, Rtd. AIG Morie Lengor Esq., the Ministry began the process earlier this year with an internal brainstorming meeting involving staff, followed by a consultative meeting with Heads of Agencies and Departments under its supervision to review the Draft Strategic Development Plan (SDP).

The first regional engagement is currently taking place in Kenema District, supported by the Government of Sierra Leone and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). The session brings together a wide range of stakeholders, including representatives from the Ministry’s Agencies and Departments, local authorities, chiefdom administrators, local councils, and representatives from Kono, Kailahun, and Nongowa Chiefdoms.

The consultation opened with a traditional libation ceremony performed by a representative of the Council of Paramount Chiefs, invoking ancestral blessings for the success and ownership of the process.

Key objectives of the Strategic Plan include enhancing the Ministry’s supervisory functions, strengthening governance, and promoting national cohesion and development. The final SDP will articulate a clear vision, mission, and strategic direction for the Ministry in the coming years.
