The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has indicted Saidu Ibrahim Sahr Kanneh, a teacher of Sierra International Secondary School, on eight (8) counts of academic malpractice and other corruption-related offences.
According to the ACC, Kanneh was caught red-handed during the WASSCE Chemistry Paper 2 at Karlkunle Senior Secondary School in Kenema, where he was seen providing written answers to students in the examination hall.
Investigations revealed that he had collected exam booklets from candidates and attempted to complete their answers on their behalf. It was further established that he received payments from two students — Morrison Vandi and Hawa Ngegba — both of Modern African Progressive Secondary School, to help them cheat during the exam.
Kanneh was indicted on: 3 counts of Academic Malpractice, 3 counts of Conspiracy to Commit a Corruption Offence, and 2 counts of Accepting an Advantage
He reportedly admitted to the offence and pleaded for forgiveness.
The ACC emphasized that this action is part of its broader effort to protect the integrity of national examinations and to restore discipline within Sierra Leone’s education system.
The Commission reaffirmed its zero-tolerance policy toward academic fraud, noting that those found guilty of corrupt practices will face the full force of the law.
