A video circulating online has sparked debate after showing a pregnant woman left stranded inside a kekeh as security officials temporarily closed the road ahead of the President’s convoy passing.
In the clip shared on Facebook, the woman was seen lying on the lap of two people in the back of a commercial tricycle, popularly called kehkeh, unable to move while traffic was halted.
Witnesses and social media users who shared the footage expressed frustration, questioning why security arrangements did not make exceptions for vulnerable citizens such as pregnant women in such a situation.
The incident highlights a recurring concern in Freetown and other parts of the country where roads are often closed off minutes before a presidential or VIP movement. During such times, commercial drivers and commuters are forced to wait, sometimes for long periods, with little regard for emergencies.
The video has since gone viral, with many urging authorities to review procedures to prevent similar situations in the future.
