It has been reported that two Sri Lankan Nationals are currently stranded at the Sierra Leone Lungi Airport with no Proper Documentations.

The case in point owing that, the immigration department of Brussels-Belgium has from the 16th January,2024 deported two Sri Lankan Nationals to Sierra Leone. The reason behind this was that, the two individuals were trying to enter Belgium via a transit to Sierra Leone when luck ran out their way.

The Belgium authorities have disclosed that, in their newly established law “Push Back” it was maintained that all asylum seekers to their country who are refused asylum will be deported back to the country where they transmitted, which was the main reason why the two Sri Lankan Nationals are currently in Sierra Leone.

It was also noted that, efforts were made to reach out to their immigration lawyer in Brussels who revealed that, she held discussions with the UNHCR officials in Dakar, Senegal. The officials in Dakar maintained that, despite moving to Dakar all financial arrangements for would be foreign aliens entering Sierra Leone to declare asylum which are left with NaCSA for which the Director of immigration Border in Sierra Leone has revealed that, he has not been officially informed about the new immigration moves by his Belgium counterparts.

The two Sri Lankan Nationals are reported to be struggling at the Lungi Airport as they wait on possible outcomes.
