The government of Sierra Leone has launched a nationwide sensitization campaign on the 2026 national budget, aimed at improving public understanding of state spending.
Joseph Munda Bindi, Chairman of the National Council for Civic Education and Democracy (NaCCED), announced the initiative during the government’s weekly press briefing held on Tuesday, April 7, 2026.
Bindi said the campaign is being conducted in collaboration with the Ministry of Finance, with technical support from Oxford, to make the budget more accessible to ordinary citizens.
He emphasized that citizens have a right to understand how public funds are allocated and spent, noting that the simplified version of the budget is designed to be reader-friendly and easy to comprehend.
According to Bindi, the initiative is part of broader efforts to promote transparency, accountability, and informed citizen participation in governance.
